About the Job The Oracle database administrator is responsible for administering the Oracle databases to include performance, integrity and security of the databases. The Oracle database administrator is also responsible for managing the Oracle databases in such a way as to provide all users access in a form that suits their needs. The database administrator has experience with and the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the team and supervisors. Responsibilities: Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products. Perform database tuning and performance monitoring. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Develops and maintains a comprehensive database and software configuration, and database/library of all supporting documentation. Plan growth and changes (capacity planning). Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support. Diagnoses, isolates and de-bugs infrastructure problems and performs problem resolution. Work as part of a team and provide support when required. Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams. Troubleshooting user issues. Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly. Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges). Carries out moderately complex system technical analysis of various database platforms primarily focusing on Oracle RDBMS. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Patch Management.
