Contributes to the operation and major maintenance of the facility mechanical systems. Determines the most appropriate means of maintaining mechanical systems through the use of service, design, and construction contracts. Evaluation shall include timeliness and cost effectiveness. Uses computer-aided drafting for development of drawings and updating existing drawings. Serves as subcontracting officer’s technical representative on construction contracts and maintenance service agreements. Provides direction to subcontractors and oversees their technical performance. Ensures subcontractors complete work within budget and in a timely manner. Ensures subcontractors perform their work in a safe, professional and courteous manner. Work involves design, operation, and maintenance of building and industrial controls including utility monitoring and remote control systems. Performs mechanical energy management studies making proposals and implementing projects enabling the Lab to comply with DOE energy goals. Performs investigations, testing, and inspects mechanical systems to ensure proper operation and identify deficiencies. Collaborates with other mechanical engineers and groups to solve technical problems related to the operation of mechanical systems. Assist other divisions in achieving their mechanical needs. Provide round the clock maintenance, construction, and operational support as required to support Accelerator and Physics operations.
